Initial Research from soccer players showed that having a separate storage compartment for cleats and ball was essential for maintaining cleanliness and odor. There was a desire for a better ball storage as their current bag did not have good security and the ball constantly falls out.
FOr my initial ideation, It was essential to maintain separate storage for the ball and cleats. While working on various flaps and closures to secure the ball, I decided on two ideas to create paper prototypes out of. The following prototypes feature exterior flaps that better secure the ball to the bag.
Using Illustrator and Photoshop, I began to refine detail features on the pack. After Exploring various strap shapes, back paneling and front pockets, I decided to move forward with simply having one pocket on the right of the pack designated for cleats. This would help with Odor and provide easy access for the user.
The final design features an asymmetrical exterior with front flaps and a mesh pocket to secure the ball to the bag. The backpack is purposed so the player has designated storage for each essential item needed for practices and games.
